Fragments of Memories
Fragments of Memories
The best things in life do come in small packages. Who would have imagined a guy with flunking grades in school being selected as a delegate to the exclusive De La Salle University to represent his school?
I couldn't believe it myself. After the painstaking final exams were over, I received a confirmation letter from the university strongly encouraging me to join the upcoming CCS Summer Camp 2005 which will be held at the Gokongwei Building of Computer Studies at De La Salle University. Neither did I know that my short in the campus will change my life forever.
Since I am not very good at public relations, I tried my best to be a lone wolf. In the end, I realized that the more I tried to remain reserved, the more I became to object of interest to my colleagues. In their desperate attempt to make me introduce myself to them, they organized a get-to-know-each-other party. I had no other choice but to give in. Oh well, if you can't beat them, join them.
After a few days, a sudden announcement was made -- we were to present a song number on the seventh day of our campus tour. Sensing that a lot of people may be watching us perform on that day, we took our practices seriously. Because we needed an accompaniment for our song number, our team captain selected me as the official team pianist and another person as team guitarist. It was a shame that we only ended up being the second placer despite all those efforts we've exerted.
During our final day at the university, voices of sadness and sorrow can be heard from every corridor. That day, whether we liked it or not, was the time for goodbyes.
Months have passed since the CCS Summer Camp came to an end. Still, in my dearest memories, I see my colleagues reaching out to me. Though they're gone, I still believe that they can call out my name.
Let the melodies of life grow deep into our hearts...
...as long as we remember.
